I have a horrible smile. This is not an exaggeration. I went to a dentist for porcelain veneers and the price was just too much for me. I’ve been looking and I see that you can get some snap-on type veneers online. Have you had experience with this?
Dave
Hi Dave,
It’s hard when you are ashamed of your smile. If you go into snap-on veneers, which is the only kind you can get online, with low expectations, you should be okay. Not good, just okay. Even the best snap-ons, done through a dentist, will be bulky and people will be able to tell they are not real up close. They’re made of acrylic instead of porcelain which lowers the aesthetic as well as their duration. Expect to replace them every few years. If you have an absolutely horrible-looking smile, you will get a decent smile. So from that perspective, it should work out for you.
Beware, though. A lot of these companies have complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Don’t just go by reviews online because they will have bots writing good reviews for them. Check with the BBB. Also be aware that doing it online means YOU will have to do the impressions. This will also lower the quality. There also will be no one to make adjustments for you and they will not fit perfectly when they come in.
Suggestions When Porcelain Veneers are Out of Reach
If you are determined that the snap on veneers are best for you at this point, then I’m going to suggest you at least go through a dentist and not online. Your impressions will be more accurate which will make the fit more comfortable. They can make the adjustments necessary when they do arrive. And, you’ll be guaranteed to receive the product you paid for, which seems to be an issue with several of these online companies.
The best smile makeovers come from porcelain veneers. They’re beautiful, when done by an artistic cosmetic dentist, and completely natural looking even face to face. They are more stain-resistant than even your natural teeth, and they can last a lifetime. You can get the snap-on smile, but I’d save up for the real deal as well.
There are things you can do to improve your smile in the meantime. One thing I am going to suggest is even less expensive than the online veneers. Get your teeth whitened. This is the quickest, least expensive way to see a dramatic improvement in your smile. It will make you look years younger.
