Lexington Cosmetic Dentist
If you’re nervous about making an appointment to see Dr. Arnold, don’t be! We’re excited to meet you and help with whatever your needs may be. Sometimes it helps to know what you can expect, so here’s a quick outline of your first visit.
We have two different types of first visits. The first is a basic visit for those who are current with their dental care and are just due for their regular six-month cleaning and checkup. The second is a comprehensive first visit for patients who have significant dental issues that need to be addressed.
Basic
At our basic appointment, our receptionist will greet you and help with your paperwork if you need it. Then, you’ll meet the dental assistant who will give you a tour of the office. We’ll take x-rays if they’re needed, our hygienist will clean your teeth, and you’ll have a checkup from Dr. Arnold. We’ll spend some time getting to know you and you can ask us any questions you may have. Finally, we’ll discuss the health of your teeth and gums and make any recommendations we think might be helpful to you.
Comprehensive
Our other type of visit is comprehensive. Before we do anything else, Dr. Arnold will want to meet you, get acquainted, find out why you’re here, and see how he can help. He’ll probably take some x-rays, followed by a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation. This usually takes about an hour and in this time he will perform the following:
– Full-mouth x-rays
– Diagnostic photographs
– Diagnostic impressions and bite records
– Periodontal examination
– Hard and soft tissue examination
– Oral cancer screening
– Bite analysis
After the appointment, Dr. Arnold will create a detailed treatment plan, along with the estimated cost of treatment. We’ll review those at your second consultation appointment, as well as discuss any questions you may still have. Our goal is to get you on the path to a gorgeous, healthy smile.

Ever since he was little Dr. J. Fred Arnold wanted to be a dentist. He has lived in Kentucky all of his life, except for three years he spent serving in the Air Force (1984-1987). He and his wife Holly have raised their family here and couldn’t imagine spending life anywhere else. They love the great schools and the emphasis on arts and culture.
