MMMmmmmm, Lemon Water!
Lemon water doesn’t just taste good, and give your water flavor– it does so much more! Let’s take a look at just a handful of the benefits lemon water has to offer.
1.) Boosts Your Immune System
Lemons contain about 30-50 mg of Vitamin C per lemon. They also contain potassium.
Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning gives your body a chance to absorb these vitamins effectively and can provide an immune system boost.
Vitamin C is also great for your adrenals and can reduce the effects of stress.
2.) Blood Purifier
Lemons are a good blood purifier, which means they help your body remove toxins. Take two tablespoons of raw lemon juice and dilute them in a warm glass of water. This is especially good for pregnant women since it helps to build the bones in their unborn child.
3.) Aids in Weight Loss
There’s evidence that drinking water, especially lemon water– first thing in the morning, can help you maintain a healthy weight.
Lemons contain pectin, a type of fiber that’s commonly found in fruits. Pectin helps you to feel fuller longer, and that satisfied feeling means you’ll eat less throughout the day.
4.) Helps Digestion
Drinking warm lemon water can help flush out your digestive system and rehydrate your body.
Lemon juice’s atomic structure is just like the digestive juices found in your stomach, so it tricks your liver into producing bile. This helps to keep food moving through your body and gastrointestinal tract smoothly, which ultimately helps with digestion.
5.) Decreases Wrinkles and Helps Your Skin
By helping to flush the body and improve digestion, lemon water can give you cleaner and clearer skin. It also contains Vitamin C which is needed for collagen production. The result is smooth, healthy, non-wrinkly skin.
6.) Flushes Out Unwanted Materials
Your liver is very active when you sleep since this is your body’s time to rest, restore, regenerate, and invigorate. Drinking enough water– particularly in the morning hours helps to make sure that your body can flush out any unwanted matter.
7.) Cures A Sore Throat
If you have a sore throat, lemon juice is your new best friend! Juice half a lemon and dilute in a small amount of water. Drink up and your throat pain will be history.
8.) Relieves Tooth Pain
Vitamin C is essential for healing gums and maintaining healthy teeth. In addition, lemon juice contains a high concentration of citric acid, which has cleansing and antiseptic properties that will kill bacteria.
If you’re suffering from a toothache, cut a thick slice of lemon and put it on the affected tooth. Bite down gently to hold it in place. Keep it on your tooth for about 2-3 minutes, or until the pain stops. If the pain continues, make sure you make an appointment to see us.
